PaElo16
PaElo16 encodes C16/18 elongase from Parietichytrium sp. which functions in the desaturase and elongase pathway and could convert C16:0 to C18:0.
Description
The wild-type Y. lipolytica Po1f can produce C18:0 under the catalysis of C16/18 elongase. PaElo16 encodes C16/18 elongase of 379 amino acids from Parietichytrium sp.. Heterologous expression of PaElo16 could catalyze C16:0 to C18:0 in Y. lipolytica.
In addition, some studies have used C16/18 elongase from this source to produce high yields of omega-3 fatty acids.
